What I Am Up To

I am working on some scrappy layered embellishments. I will be using only what is on my very messy desk. A nice little challenge that! So on to the project!

I started off with finding the base for my layers. I chose a double sided printed card stock.

As you can see I have already torn it into pieces the size I wanted to use.

Choosing one I will start my layers.

Gluing down the second layer to the first I will choose another layer.

The third layer glued down. With that I will choose a Distress Oxide. To give a little effect.

Tim Holtz is my “go to” in the Distress Oxides. Gathered Twigs is one of my favorite colors.

Color added. Now a little something to make it cute.

Finished. You can add something as simple as a butterfly and some string. Or……

Just put together layers and put a washi sticker on top. Or……

With this project you can add anything that you would like to your embellishments. Mass make them so you can have them on hand. Have fun with them. Most of all? Enjoy the process!

I hope that you have enjoyed this post. I will get better as I go at elaborating. If you know me in person I am pretty much to the point and don’t add frills to my words. But I know from experience that I get better at blogging. Please let me know if you have any questions or need help!

Trying This Again

I did not know that it had been this long since I had posted any blog. My addiction to mixed media and junk journals continue. I am very happy to say that I am and have developed so many new skills in the world of crafting.

I have been asked to work up some tutorials. Of which I am going to very happily do. I am also hoping to have the time to blog often. Stepping off again let’s see how this goes from here!

My Finds at Goodwill

Today I got off work and was able to go to the Goodwill auction. I wanted the lot of yarn that they had, but when it got to 100 dollars I stopped bidding. Imagine trying to justify spending 100 dollars on used yarn to the guardian of the piggy bank. All in all though it was nice that I was able to get out and do something like this for a change.

The next lot I was interested in was a lot of album cover negatives. I am not quite sure what I am going to do with them. You can bet it will be interesting though.

The Start of an Addiction

These shoes came in at work one day. I thought to myself that these would be really cool to use ain altering. I had been Pinterest surfing and saw some inspiration but didn’t have shoes. So when these came in one thought led to another and bam! A whole new world opened up.

As you can see I am really enjoying this. No detail spared!

Now I just need to open an Etsy shop.

A Thought

Good evening!

I have been kind of busy with work and my grandson so it has been tough getting to the point to get to my blog and write.  Over my vacation I went thrifting and found some great items.  I found some old hymnals.  Yesterday I started scanning in the sheet music to my computer.  I love the thought of being able to use these beautiful songs in some projects.  God gave us this music so I thought that I would share some with you for your projects.

Enjoy these two songs I will be back with more shares!

My Latest Project

My latest project is an Altered Journal for a friend.  She is a school teacher and I grew up with her family.  We did not meet until I started working at T J Maxx.  She is an awesome person so I thought to waste my talents on her so to speak.

This first picture is the completed book.  I just wish my ipad would take better pictures and do justice to  the way the journal looks

When we untie the lace this is the front cover.  I had gone thrifting last Friday and came across some vintage doilies.  I used part of the green one for this journal.  I use vintage in my projects.  I just like the look that it gives.

This is the back of the journal.  More vintage doilies of course!

I made a pocket right in the middle of  this journal for little keep sakes or pictures or what ever Chanel wants to use it for.  As you can see I used scrap book paper and those images?  They are old greeting cards.  I love how they compliment the over all theme of the journal.

On the insides of the journal cover I made more pockets for keep sakes.

I am really enjoying this exploration of Altered/Media Art.  The possibilities are endless.  Sometimes we have to leave behind of what was to move forward.
